Our collection is produced by the following 9 ladies :
1) Batchimeg:
Family - Lives with husband, toddler son and her parents
Work - Hardworking young couple; both have full time jobs
With Saikhan - For several years; this project helps to supplement her family income; she hand-felts our fabric and specializes in hand-sewing our traditional men slippers
Desire - To have a more stable full time job
2) Bolorerdene:
Family - Lives with her husband and three kids. Her oldest daughter is in university; her son looks after dad and younger sibling; her youngest daughter is in grade 2.
Work - Has a full-time cleaning job; her husband is unable to work after an accident
With Saikhan - For several years, and she sews very well, specializes in our small products such as magnets and Christmas decorations
Desire - To continue to work as she is the sole breadwinner and aims to help her son to further his studies in future
3) Bolormaa#:
Family - Lives with her husband and two kids (daughter and son). Her son is in middle school
Work - Full time job as social worker at a non-profit organization; her husband and daughter are both working
With Saikhan - Since the beginning; has a good eye for design and details + teaches the new ladies how to hand-felt and sew; she hand-felts our fabric and sews some of our products, especially those that require more detailed work
Desire - To be a mentor to ladies/mums of impoverished families
4) Byambaa:
Family - Lives with her husband and her daughter who is in kindergarten
Work - Looking after her family ; Her husband has a full time job
With Saikhan - For several years; she mainly helps to hand-felt our fabric
Desire - To continue working after delivery of her second child in May
5) Erdenechimeg#:
Family - Lives with her husband and daughter. She also has a son and three grandchildren
Work - Actively involved in caring for her large family (parents, siblings and grandchildren); slowed down recently due to health issues
With Saikhan - Since the beginning; Focuses on sourcing for materials and new sales channel in Mongolia + teaches the new ladies how to hand-felt and sew
Desire - To continue to contribute to society
6) Enkhmaa:
Family - Has 2 sons; her older son (6 years old) is currently at a children's shelter, and younger son (3 years old) goes to a kindergarten
Work - Full time cleaning job at a non-profit organisation
With Saikhan - For a few years; she sews, mainly Christmas ornaments
Desire - To own a land for her ger (Mongolian felt house) and to take her child back from the children's shelter
7) Shinetsetseg:
Family - Lives with her mum and three sons (age ranging 3 to 20 years old)
Work - Odd jobs including sometimes as cleaner at schools; her elderly mum collects empty plastic bottles daily
With Saikhan - For several years; she hand-felts our fabric
Desire - To sew better
8) Undral#:
Family - Lives with her husband, two daughters and one son (age ranging 7 to 21 years old; all in school), and mother-in-law
Work - Looking after her family; Her husband has a full time job
With Saikhan - For a few years; she hand-felts our fabric and is able to sew almost all of our products
Desire - To have a full time job in future when her son is older
9) Tsegii:
Family - Lives with her husband and two daughters (17 and 26 years old); her younger daughter is in Grade 11
Work - Sometimes she sells cooked food at the market; her husband has a disability and unable to work; her eldest daughter is working
With Saikhan - For several years; she hand-felts our fabric
Desire - To have good health as she has diabetics
For various reasons, we have chosen not to upload any photos, except photos of two of their children. We also had other ladies involved in this project in the past.
